OCD Support Group Meeting Guidelines

THE VIRTUAL FAIRFIELD COUNTY OCD SUPPORT GROUP

THIS OCD SUPPORT GROUP IS FACILITATED BY DR. CHRISTINA J. TAYLOR, DR. DIANE E. SHOLOMSKAS, AND ROCCO CLERICUZIO, WEBMASTER

The purpose of this group is to provide a forum for members to learn and use the principles of exposure and response prevention treatment for OCD. We intend to provide an opportunity for individuals with OCD and their family members to learn, share experiences and provide support for practice of skills for managing OCD. The facilitators provide guidance and support and the participants of the group take responsibility for directing the topics each month.

This group is an open group which means that anyone may attend meetings each month as they choose.

We ask all participants to observe the guidelines for maintaining confidentiality of the group and its members. Anything discussed in the group is kept confidential which means we ask members not to use any information that could identify a member when discussing the group or give details about the group that may reveal anyone’s identity.

During the group discussions we ask that only one person talk at a time. For purposes of the Zoom meeting, all participants have their audio muted while one person is talking. Raise your hand when you wish to talk and the facilitator will unmute your audio.

We ask that you refrain from talking to other members while someone is talking and that you do not attempt to talk at the same time that another person is talking. You may communicate with the chat function during the meeting.

We ask that if you disagree with what is being said by a participant, that you do so respectfully or choose not to raise it as an issue.

Participants may listen or talk and there is no expectation that you speak unless you choose to do so.

The purpose of this group is to provide a safe forum for you and your family members to learn, share, gain information and support for living with OCD. Participants who are noncompliant with these guidelines may be removed from the meeting and reported to Zoom.

We usually start the group by introducing ourselves.
